Keep an eye on the news,
some times I see the news and get inspired to write a poem or a story,
sometimes in life, you hear a thing that can inspire a thought which can lead you on a journey like half-heard voices like a shouting voice to someone who thinks it's just a tv or nothing, and then hears fireworks and fancy they heard a crime or something later to hear a police siren thinking they going to sound and find themself wondering what it was. Like I did it inspired my story Enter The Marchioness.
You can use ideas.
some times a documentary rings a bell something comes from that,
I borrowed the fate of Dick Turpin's body for my dark sad story Shadows
it was really dark his body was stolen and reburied with lime.
Sometimes a person can inspire an idea an actor who played a poet ghost in English Ghost and sang a song about Dick Turpin inspired my story The Ghost Writer In which a man finds the ghost of Dick Turpin who follows him home and makes the guy a bestselling poet the poet being the ghost of Turpin.
Sometimes a song or a teaser for can inspire show can inspire a story or a theme of the story Shadows was inspired by a tv show teaser to be a bit sad like the feel of the music and teaser of the show.
One poem I did was inspired by a quiz show answer Nocturne being the name of music about the night. It inspired my poem Nocturne or the music of the night : Extended.
Sometimes a picture can inspire a thousand words literally.
Now my challenge to you is to find your muse and write like you not ape others I say ignore those who say you must write their ways the best words come from you writing your way if no one likes your way they are it's just them write when you feel like writing not when you don't keep an eye open for ideas they can come from anyone or anywhere.
